Short Eddy

"Short Eddy, the 4th grade nerd who always got pushed around at school..." has a secret even he doesn't know. Eddy's dad disappeared when he was only four. He left him a few things though. Odd things, like a floating black sphere called the Gryffin. Eddy begins to discover what those things are, and what they do, when Thursday, the ace penguin spy, saves him from Mean Eyes Paine.

Eddy's face is not shown in order to protect his identity.

Thursday

"Thursday’s office was a low-rent hole in the ground. He was a hard working guy who didn’t care much for luxury. He was more interested in keeping a low profile and getting his work done. Thursday was a spy, a secret agent, a spook. The less people noticed him, the better he could do his job."

If you need a spy, Thursday is about as good as they get.

Sam the Elephant

"One of the reasons Thursday enjoyed the meetings with Sam so much was that Sam had so little in common with most people in the spy business. He wasn’t dark or sleuthy or secretive. He was a big friendly guy who couldn’t hide behind a small house. He was the kind of guy you could imagine hanging out eating a sundae, every day, all day. He was the kind of guy you’d imagine getting picked on and pushed around by the kids at school. Well, you could imagine him getting picked on at school if you ignored for a moment that he weighed more than most monster trucks."

Of course, Sam is in the spy business. And in a big way.

Bartholomew the Frog with Precision Hopping Ability

"Everybody knew Bartholomew the Frog. He was a famous frog who was featured on “What ever happened to...” shows. Everybody knew his prime had passed - he'd been an athlete - and that he’d spent years drifting and now spent most of his time at home eating chocolate ladybugs, drinking SodaCo Cola and watching TV. They also knew that he still had the occasional gig as a advertising spokesman. What they didn’t know... was that he had become ‘The Source,' a spy extraordinaire. Spies like Thursday imagined Bartholomew in a trench coat furtively speaking with networks of informants and somehow pulling the world’s secrets out of the ether of rumor and suspicion. Bartholomew was nothing like that. He just hopped places, watched what was going on, and then left."

Grobar

"“Grobar can’t come because he’s not a real member of the family. He’s just a goat.”

When he heard those words, Grobar’s heart almost stopped. It had never occurred to him before that the family he’d loved would think that he was ‘just a goat’. Heartbroken, Grobar turned around and walked away, never to return. He thought he'd never be happy again. And then, one day, while munching on some grass in the middle of nowhere, Grobar realized what he needed to do.

He needed to take over the world."

Hadid

"As Hadid put it, he was on a first name basis with half the camels in North Africa. Hadid had it all figured out. Why was this particular camel so well informed? Simple. Hadid hated people. So whenever he had the chance, he spat at them. Because his disposition was so bad, he kept getting sold to different groups of unsuspecting Bedouin. Most camels with his attitude would have been eaten, but Hadid was in top physical form and thus worth quite a bit more alive than dead."
